Our Makers Purpose

About Church of God Assembly

The Church of God Assembly (CGA) believes that our Maker’s grand purpose in creating man is to perfect individuals by the power of Christ and eventually give the saints immortality and glory like Christ (Daniel 12:3). God’s purpose is for us to ultimately be “born again” as spirit beings into His Family (John 3:3-8; I Corinthians 15:50-54; Romans 8:16-17; Philippians 3:21; I John 3:2; Revelation 21:7).

The Church of God has a responsibility to preach the Gospel — the Good News of the coming Kingdom of God — as a witness to all the world (Matthew 24:14; Matthew 28:19-20). The Church further has a responsibility to give a warning message to all those living in sin, particularly the nations of Israel (Ezekiel 33:11; Isaiah 58:1-2), and also a responsibility to feed the flock and prepare a people for the Lord.

The Church of God keeps all of the annual Holy Days and festivals, as commanded in both the Old and New Testaments (Leviticus 23). Refer to our “Fundamental Beliefs” for details. We also keep the weekly Sabbath as Christ and his disciples did (Exodus 20:8-10; Deuteronomy 5:12-15; Luke 4:16, 31; Acts 17:1-2).

The Church of God teaches and believes that God the Father will soon send His Son — Jesus Christ — from heaven to the earth — to establish His Kingdom on the earth (Jeremiah 3:17) and to glorify his saints, who will rule with Him over all nations for a thousand years (Matthew 5:5; Revelation 5:10; Revelation 11:15; Revelation 20:4-6). The Scriptures show that during the Millennium all peoples will be given God’s Spirit (Joel 2:28-29), and an understanding of the truth (Isaiah 2:2-4), and that salvation will be opened to those who have never had their opportunity.

The Church of God teaches that all people who have ever lived will have an opportunity for salvation (Matthew 18:14; Romans 11:26; I Timothy 2:4; II Peter 3:9), and that this age is not the only time when salvation will be offered. Instead, Christ will save billions throughout the Millennium and the “Great White Throne Judgment” period to follow (Revelation 20:11-13; Isaiah 65:17-25). Those who have died unsaved are not lost. They will have their opportunity for salvation in a future resurrection (Ezekiel 37; Revelation 20:11-13). There is an order of God’s resurrections (I Corinthians 15:22-23; Revelation 20).

These wonderful and encouraging doctrines are at the heart of God’s Master Plan of Salvation for mankind!
